“Hutto has a crime score that beats the state mean by 82%” according to Value Penguin, a personal finance and research analysis firm that helps clients “make better value-based decisions”. Hutto ranks 4th in the Top 5 Safest Places in Texas.
Police Chief Earl Morrison praised the hard working and dedicated members of the Hutto Police Department, and he was also quick to credit our outstanding community members.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Chief Morrison. “Our efforts to remain a safe family city can only be accomplished through hard work and great partnerships within the community.”
Crime data from 210 Texas cities were compared in this study. The raw data was collected from the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program and used to calculate a “crime score” for various cities across the state. These statistics included violent crimes as well as property crimes from all law enforcement agencies that participate in the FBI’s program.
Assistant City Manager, Micah Grau, echoed Chief Morrison’s comments by stressing “Hutto is proud to be named one of the safest towns in Texas. This distinction comes as a result of our dedicated public safety servants along with outstanding citizens that are proactive in protecting their neighborhoods and watching out for one another.”
